Hello...

Congratulations on the new little addition to your family. There is nothing more precious than a newborn. I just love those tiny fingers and toes, that curled up little body, and those sweet little smiles. These are the moments that you want to remember forever! It is my goal to make your newborn session as enjoyable and relaxing as possible.

The full newborn package takes around 3-4 hours. This package includes 30-40 images including baby, siblings, mom and dad shots. If you have chosen the Newborn Mini Session, the session will last closer to an hour and will include 10-15 images of baby only.

Make sure to block the right amount of time off your schedule during our session day as I don't want you to feel rushed. Review this parent prepping guide, as it will answer many of your questions. As always, feel free to contact me if you have further questions.

Before You Arrive...

Please feed your little one three hours before our session. Then, bring them (very) hungry! During the three hours before you arrive at the session, it is best to have lots and LOTS of awake time with your baby. A bath (or sponge bath) is a great way to keep them awake and prepare them for a good, long nap! Prior to your session, make sure that the diaper is loosened slightly so that it does not leave red marks on the body.

If you can, please pack along a smoothie pacifier the hospital sent you home with. It is bendable, green/blue/orangish and won't leave marks. Even if you haven't used one, just for the few hours I'm posing your little one, it usually really helps. However, if you really prefer that we don't use one, that is fine.

Once You Arrive...

...you can relax and feed your little one and I will spend time putting them to sleep. Some of the classic poses occur with the baby is sleeping  in a deep sleep. All family and sibling portraits will be at the end of the session so I am able to use the entire "deep sleep" time that will occur.

If you are nursing, it is a good idea to bring a bottle of milk that you have pumped (or formula if you are using that)... a baby fed with a bottle is always the most full and sleepy.

If you are bringing pumped milk or formula, please bring LOTS of it! I always tend to overfeed the baby to get them the sleepiest. Having said that, do whatever YOU are most comfortable with. When the baby wakes up, I will capture those gorgeous, bright eyes as well, and if necessary, you can feed them again. I never rush a newborn session so please don't feel like you can only feed them an ounce or so...I CAN WAIT!

What to wear...

(this does not apply for newborn mini sessions and is ONLY a suggestion, not a requirement)

Bring neutral colored clothing such as jeans and a brown, light tan or cream top. Earth tones look amazing in newborn photography!!!!

Please remove ALL NAIL POLISH or keep it to a neutral tone as your hands will find their way into the images. Dads, if you prefer not to be shirtless, I ask that you bring a tight fitting v-neck t-shirt to wear with a good, snug pair of jeans. Both Mom and Dad should plan to be barefoot.

Siblings should have their hair be natural, free of bows, headbands, etc. Please remove all nail polish as it provides a cleaner look. For big sisters, pack items such as a pretty vintage or soft-colored dress or skinny jeans and a white/cream loose shirt or tank top. For big brothers, bring a pair of snug jeans. Shirtless is preferred, however, a tight fitting white t-shirt is fine if you are uncomfortable with shirtless.

Few additional thoughts...

I can NOT stress enough the importance of you doing your best to keep BABY AWAKE as I have instructed.

I keep my studio about 90 degrees. You will want to dress accordingly.

If siblings will be joining the session, I ask that they come towards the end of the session to ensure we get the newborn photos you desire.

It is my hope that you come to your session feeling very comfortable. I am honored to document this incredible time in your lives and look forward to our time together.

Please make sure you use the restroom prior to your arrival as our bathroom is under construction at this time. There is a gas station close by in case you need to use one while you are here.
